TONY CONJUGACION

Tony K. Conjugacion- Tony is an award-winning recording artist, composer, television personality, stage actor, producer, director, and Kumu Hula. In 1985, Tony's debut recording, "Hawaiian Passion", was nominated for 11 Na Hoku Hanohano awards and won Album of the Year, Traditional Hawaiian Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Tony was cast in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon in New York, which opened in April 1991. He is Kumu Hula for Halau Na Wainohia which was established in 1997, though has been teaching in Hawai'i and abroad for over twenty years. He is founder and executive director for Lamaku Society, a non-profit organization 501 (C) 3, dedicated to promotion, education and preservation of the Hawaiian culture, with an emphasis on the performing arts. The Lamaku Society through its 2009 CD release of a Hula compilation entitled, 'Ike 0 Na Kumu Hula (Insights of the Hula Sources) garnered the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for "Compilation of the Year" at the 2010 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards.

As Kumu for Halau Na Wainohia, he graduated seven 'olapa dancers in September 2004 (KTpu Kai, Kaua'l) and four Kumu Hula/one 'olapa dancer in September 2010 (Keawanui Moloka'i). In 2011, he began his keiki classes and a new Kane class for young men.

He also performs Saturday nights at Disney's 'Aulani Resort in the 'Olelo Room, an endeavor which began in Augusl 2011.
